Giclees by David: Coming of the Ship

"We cry for the
transcendent, for
the simple. The
weight of routine
crowds and
crushes. The search
for meaning is
buried in the senses."

What is Giclee

Giclee (zhee-klay) is an advanced process of printing creating fine art reproductions that are virtually indistinguishable from the original artwork. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction by using high quality digital scanning techniques and archival pigment inks. The result is a wide acceptance of these prints by private collectors, museums, and galleries.

Why Giclee Prints on Canvas

Giclees on canvas are prints from oil paintings that look like the original. They are impressive in color and long lasting. They do not need to be put under glass and do not fade. The texture of canvas gives the print the closet option to what the artist created through the use of signed limited editions.

The Value of Fine Art Giclee Reproductions

Limited edition giclees on canvas can be found in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Chelsea Galleries. Recent auctions of these fine art giclee reproductions have received $10,800 for Annie Leibowitz, $9,600 for Chuck Close, and $22,000 for Wolfgang Tillmans (April 22/24 2004, Photographs, New York, Philips de Pury & Company.)
